As a resident of Thaba Chweu and a sportsman, I voice my concern about our Mashakeng Stadium, the tennis court, basketball court and soccer pitch. The football pitch is not fit to play on – it is uneven and players ankles get twisted, while the condition of the main pavilion is such that it is not safe for the spectators to sit on.

I’m appealing to the businesses and mining house to come forward and rescue this stadium, please. It used to be a good stadium eight years ago. One might ask what happened or who we should blame.

We once again have a team that is playing in the Castle League – Mashishing Football Club. They played their first game on September 28 here at home, and there are still more games to be played here, but in this condition?

We are talking about the future, our children, who are still going to use the facilities. Let it be our concern as parents to stand up and do something about this matter.
