Kambaku golfer wins White River Junior Open

The White River Country Club held the White River Junior Open on Sunday September 1.

Juniors throughout the province participated in this event comprising three divisions. Werner Mostert, who is a member of Kambaku Golf Club, walked away as the winner. Werner won the A division with a score of 149 over 36 holes beating Ryan Stenzel of Witbank by one stroke. In third place was Lonene Khoza of Kruger Park Lodge one shot further back on 151. The all-day nett winner was Banele Mavuso on a score of 146. Banele also scored a hole-in-one during the practice round on Saturday at the third hole. The weather was perfect but cold in the morning after the
cold front hit the Lowveld on Saturday. The course was in excellent condition
but the greens were difficult to read.
The B division was won by Dylan Cutting of Swaziland on 164 who beat Danel Bieldt of White River by one stroke who finished on 165. Third was Middelburg player Stiaan van Aswegen one shot further back on 166. The all-day nett was won by Louise Thombs of White River on 146. Chanelle Botha and Chanté Boonstra were selected to represent the Mpumalanga ladies team at the 53rd South African Ladies Interprovincial Championship to be held at Port Elizabeth from September 22 to 27.
The C division was won by Zane Nel on 38 Points, second was Dwayne Fermor who scored 6.
The next junior tournament will be the Ermelo Open to be held at Ermelo
Country Club on September 15.
