The Steval Pumas scored a 52-33 win over the SWD Eagles to secure a home Currie Cup first division final. The final will be played next weekend.

The Mbombela Stadium faithful were quiet for much of the game as the Pumas battled to gel and the Eagles looked hungry for a win.

The Eagles were the better team in the first half even though the Pumas led 20-16 at the break.

The Pumas made too many enforced errors. They played well in spurts but never seemed to get out of fourth gear.

The home team were three points down early in the second half when they clicked and started playing the expansive rugby that has seen them score 14 conseutive wins this season.

A four-try blitz in the final 22 minutes put the match beyond the Eagles reach. Coenie van Wyk, RW Kember, Renaldo Bothma and Doppies le Roux claimes the tries.

In the first half, Corne Steenkamp and Stefan Watermeyer scored tries.

The Pumas left it late but when they ignited they did so in style, running the Eagles ragged.

Carl Bezuidenhout kicked four penalities and five conversions.

The second semi-final between the Leopards and the Kings will be played in Port Elizabeth later tonight.
