David-and-Goliath showdown for Telkom Cup
Mpumalanga Black Aces will host the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates at Mbombela Stadium tonight.

The David-and-Goliath showdown for the Telkom Knockout Cup kicks off at 19:30.
Having been humiliated by Platinum Stars during the MTN Top 8 Cup and coming from a tough weekend outing where they played to a goalless draw against the Tunisian giants, Esperance FC in the African Champions League,
Pirates will come to this game in search of redemption, but they know it’s not
going to be an easy task.
“The match against Aces will be a tough one. They have been playing well since gaining promotion and they also have a number of players who have experience in the PSL.
The fact that they are a newly promoted side doesn’t mean that we can underestimate them. We will give them the respect they deserve when we eventually meet,” said Pirates’ captain, Lucky Lekgwati.
The home team, Aces have been playing quality and entertaining football, which will make this battle an interesting one to watch.
“The boys have proven that they can play good soccer and score goals, but what they need to do now is focus for the whole 90 minutes and avoid conceding. I am sure if we continue playing the way we are currently doing, we will surprise Pirates,” said Aces’ spokesman, Gordon Masondo.
Aces are guilty of conceding late, easy goals against their opponents, especially when playing at Mbombela. Orlando Pirates on the other hand have also been playing good football, especially in the African Champions League, but haven’t found their footing in domestic affairs as they have conceded against minors.
