The Steval Pumas faithful fans got more than their money’s worth when the home team put on a near flawless first half display of rugby in the ABSA Currie Cup First Division final.

The Pumas held a 19-9 lead at the siren.

Carl Bezuidenhout put the home team 3-0 up in the first minute. He also added two more penalties.

RW Kember and Coenie van Wyk scored tries for the Pumas.

For the Kings Scott van Breda nailed three penalties.

The Pumas ran the ball down the backline from the first whistle. They seemed intent on running the Kings into exhaustion.

Frankie Herne who played for the Kings in last year’s final, hooked a heel against the head in the 16th minute. This summed up  Pumas dominance of the half.

If it’s more of the same in the second half the Kings could run out of steam.

The Pumas need to keep doing what they do well, just like in the first half.
