Mapetla FC walk away with the victory prize

Local football team Mapetla FC received a soccer kit from COPE's Tubatse subregion on Sunday October 20.

According to the chairman of COPE in the Tubatse subregion, Lekhele Moraba, the team previously used old worn-out jerseys.
“We realised that they were passionate about the beautiful game and chose to help. The money used to purchase the jersey is from the party, we don’t use taxpayers’ money to enrich ourselves. We care about the needs of the community,” said Moraba.
He added that the party was planning to also provide soccer balls to other teams in the village. “The area is remote. By donating the sporting materials we will combat the crime scourge as there is no entertainment in this place.” COPE helped to organise a four-team tourney which was contested by two teams of Ga-Mokgotho, one of Praktiseer and the other of Alverton.
Refreshments and meals were catered for the players and the crowd in
attendance.
Chairman of the party in the Sekhukhune region, Cllr Nnanesi Selahle also used the event to clear the air on the party’s leadership battles
which had ensued in the past years.
“We had problems with court cases which
involved Mbhazima Shilowa and Mosiuoa Lekota, I can proudly say, they are things
of the past. Everything is hunky-dory now. Our leader is Lekota.”
Selahle urged the youth to register to vote for next year’s general elections in order
for their voices to be heard.
