Charities to benefit from Harley Davidson golf day

Temperatures may have soared in the high 30s, but that didn't keep golfers away from the Steelwings Harley-Davidson Club Golf Day.

Matumi Golf Estate hosted the bikers and their guests on October 11 for a four-ball alliance competition.
Harley-Davidson motorcycles adorned the lawn in front of the clubhouse as the teams teed off throughout the morning.
Winners of the four-ball were Nicky Geere, Jetro Piso, Francois Gilliomere and Schalk de Waal.
Local golfing big name Monya Richards landed both the ladies’ longest drive and
closest to the pin, with Piso hitting the men’s longest drive and George du Toit
landing closest to the pin among his male contestants.
The Hawaiian-clad team from T Box Mega Hydraulics received the prize for best dressed on the day, sporting not only Hawaiian flowered shirts, but a couple of hula skirts, too.
“We would like to thank everybody who supported us either by playing, sponsoring a hole or donating prizes. Without them, our golf day would never have happened.

We are very proud to announce that we have raised nearly R60 000 that will go to retirement centres in our area, the Lowveld SPCA, St John’s Orphanage and Jamming for Bibles.

We invite the public to get involved in next year’s event, as it will surely be even bigger and better,” says Steelwings president Lean van Kradenburg.
