Players chosen for elite week

The squad and team lists for the annual Coca-Cola Khaya Majola u/19 Cricket Week which takes place in Durban from December 16 to 21 have been announced.

This
event is the ultimate goal for any youth cricketer as the tournament is regarded
as a stepping stone for those aspiring to play professional cricket and
ultimately represent the country. Every year the week showcases some of the
country’s top youth cricket players and only two from the Proteas test squad,
Imran Tahir and Alviro Petersen, have not played at Khaya Majola. Jason Chandler
(Penryn), Dean Carlisle (Uplands), Simon Geldenhuys (Hoërskool Nelspruit),
Siyabonga Mahima (Lowveld High) Matthew Nepgen (Uplands) and Nkosi Mbendulu
(Hoërskool Rob Ferreira) have been chosen from the Lowveld to represent
Mpumalanga.
The Khaya Majola week acts as trials from which the SA Schools
and SA Colts sides will be chosen. Mpumalanga played their fifth and final match
against the Free State in 2012 and lost by 117 runs.
