Shortest game in cricket history
Impala 2 set a new league record at Lowveld High School during their match against Malekutu 2 on Saturday, November 2.
It is said to be the shortest match ever played in the history of the promo-league series. Impala won the toss and elected to field first.
Opening bowler Max Harms took a miraculous five wickets for five runs in just 3,1 overs. Next up, Hanno Mattheus bowled four wickets for nine runs in four overs and that immediately tore the Malekutu batting to ribbons.
The remarkable innings lasting just 7,1 overs with Malekutu being dismissed for a paltry 14 runs, with no fewer than six batsmen
being dismissed for zero and the top scorer being eight extras.
Impala then further added insult to injury by bludgeoning the required runs in just one over, thus winning by an emphatic ten wickets and setting a new league record during which the entire match lasted a mere 8,1 overs.
Cardinals confirmed to be the official sponsor of Impala 2 last week. Surely it had something to do with this mind-blowing game.
