Kayla Schefermann (11) of Penryn College was placed first overall in the short course gala in Barberton last week. She also won the Victrix Ludorum award.
The Penryn swimmers performed extremely well and took seven gold, six silver and seven bronze on the day.
Schefermann participated in the individual medley, butterfly, backstroke, breast and freestyle and received gold in all her items. “I enjoy butterfly most. I shared the trophy with Jordan Minithee of Curro.
I didn’t improve my times, but I made a huge effort and it’s very rewarding to be nominated for a prize like that,” said Schefermann.
