Masters take second place
Coach of the Masters World Cup team and cricket coach at Penryn College, Eric Grimaldi and his team, the SA Indoor Cricket Team, took silver at the Indoor World Cup at the Fourways arena.

Seven countries participated in the over 30-,
35-, 40- and 45 age groups. The World Cup is held every three years in different
countries. “We played 13 games and won 11 – beating all the countries,” said
Grimaldi. In the final against Australia, injuries took its toll with local,
Nelspruit’s Corrie Minnaar, pulling a calf muscle and therefore missing the
game. The opposition made 95 runs and Grimaldi’s team scored 67. “Our over 35s
beat Australia in the final and became the first SA team to win the World Cup,”
Grimaldi continued.
The juniors in Nelspruit have a mini-tournament from
December 6 to December 8 at Penryn College. Teams from eastern and central
Gauteng are coming to play against the u/10s and u/11s.
