Big soccer coming to Mbombela

The Mbombela Stadium will hold two huge soccer matches in the space of four days.

The first game kicks off tomorrow at 19:30 and is between the only
provincial team campaigning in the Premier Soccer League, Mpumalanga Black Aces
and top of the log, Mamelodi Sundowns.
And three days after this game, the
stadium hosts its second-biggest soccer cup final ever to be battled out by
Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars on Saturday night.
The stadium manager,
Roelf Kotze has since reaffirmed soccer supporters that the stadium will be in
perfect condition on match days.
“Soccer fans should only worry about
purchasing their tickets on time and getting to the stadium timeously. The pitch
is in perfect condition and we are ready for the Telkom Knockout Cup
Final.
“I would also like to remind soccer fans to make use of the
park-and-ride facilities available during the final on Saturday,” said
Kotze.
This will be homecoming for Orlando Pirates as they have played a
number of games here and have never lost. This is also the venue where Pirates
lifted the Nedbank Cup in 2011 and will certainly be aiming to continue their
winning streak here.
“One thing we can promise our supporters in Mpumalanga
is that we are going to win this cup for them. The fact that we are playing at
night will certainly awaken the ghosts and we will walk over Stars,” said
Pirates spokesman, Mickey Modisane.
Having embarrassed Pirates in the MTN 8,
Platinum Stars will come to Mbombela hoping to continue their winning streak
over Pirates.
“We are coming down there for a fight. It’s not going to be any
easy one, but we will do our level best to come out victorious,” said Stars
spokesman, Aubrey Molobi.
Ordinary, parking and hospitality tickets for the
final are already selling at all Computicket outlets and are also available at
the stadium
