Khenyeza’s fate still undecided

Mpumalanga Black Aces and their striker Mabhuti Khanyeza will have to wait a little longer before they know their fate.

This is after the case involving this deadly striker was once again postponed to a new date still to be confirmed by the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The PSL, which is currently in disarray, with a number of teams resorting to courts for intervention, has in the meantime
ruled out possibilities of protests by teams that have lost against Aces whenever Khanyeza was in action.
“If something or someone is on appeal, the
player is still allowed to play, so the court cases are not a reality,” said the
PSL CEO Brand de Villiers meaning that Aces are eligible to use Khanyeza
whenever they want to while his case is still on appeal.
Khenyeza, who
hasn’t seen action for a number of Aces games, was initially charged by the PSL
with misbehaviour and unsporting behaviour after he allegedly spat and verbally
insulted a match official while he was still playing for Ajax Cape Town.
He
was then found guilty by the PSL’s disciplinary committee which suspended him
for 12 months from active professional football, a decision later reversed by
the Safa’s appeal board which only imposed a R50 000 fine, half of which was
suspended.
This outcome didn’t sit too well with the PSL who then referred
the matter for arbitration. If the arbitrator rules in favour of the PSL, the
ban will be reinstated against Khanyeza, unless Aces take the matter to court
just like Thanda Royal Zulu has done after exhausting all domestic
avenues.
NB: Is the PSL out to destroy Khenyeza’s football career or does it
just want to instil discipline and send a strong message against ill-discipline
in the league? To send your views or comments, simply log onto
