Best teams battle for supremacy in tourney
The Nkomazi Mayoral Sports Development Cup has reached its final stage, and this weekend will determine the best team in the subregion.

During the holidays, teams in the various sport codes continued to battle it out against one another for a place in the finals.
This past weekend he volleyball, basketball and rugby semi-finals took place at KaMhlushwa, while the soccer finalists prepared themselves for this weekend’s finals.
In the volleyball finals it will be Mangweni taking on Shining Star. The KaMhlushwa A rugby team did enough to secure their spot in the final, where they will take on Mzinti.
In basketball, Block A Dooleys will face KaMhlushwa Blue Whales in the losers final, while in the finals it will be a local derby between the Ntunda Lakers and Ntunda Spurs.
The netball losers final will see VIP Netball versus Jeppes Reef Sundowns, and in the final it will be Sidlamafa taking on Schoemansdal Young Stars.
The sponsors and organisers of the tournament have expressed their
satisfaction with overall proceedings and participation shown by local
teams.
“We are happy with the turnout from local teams from various sport
disciplines. This week the best teams in their respective sports will be decided during the finals.
We experienced some delays with the unexpected passing of our former president Nelson Mandela.
However, we have been able to catch up the time we have lost and host the finals,” said Nkomazi municipality spokesman, Cyril Ripinga.
