Nomads play for a very good cause

All Nomads had to bring along a toy.
The spirit of Christmas was present and
the bowlers made sure everyone was in a festive mood. Soon the bowls were
rolling and everyone had fun. The day was concluded with a braai at the
clubhouse.
Shirley and Malcolm Tyerman, Nomads president, donated the toys to
Betty’s Haven in Nelspruit which is home to 30 children. Their faces lit up when
they received the gifts. The Nomads also took the opportunity to donate presents
from the elderly’s wish list to Mpumalanga Frail Care Centre in West Acres.
Their wish list included items such as towels, facecloths and soap. They were
very delighted to receive these gifts.
Nomad bowls started in East London in
1980, on the principles of Nomads golf.
Nomads are registered members of
bowls clubs but with no fixed address. They play bowls at different venues every
month in order to raise funds to help the needy.
It is a principal of Nomads
that donations are never in cash but in goods, products or services to members
or groups of the community.
Visitors, both men and women, are most welcome
at Nomad’s monthly outings. Most bowling clubs have details of when and where
Nomads are playing next.
