Scouting comes to an end as top 23 are chosen

After three days of training and trials, Castle Lager has announced its final team of the top 23 players (the Castle SuperStars), who have been selected from the 45 hopefuls who were chosen last December through its Together For Tomorrow's Bafana soccer talent-scouting initiative.

The Castle SuperStars represent some of the elite local soccer talent aged 18 to 21 and will continue with the development camp until end of January.
Of the 23 players, five are from this province.
“The last three days have been quite daunting for the youngsters. We have taken them through various types of training sessions and
all of them have shown a lot of promise as future soccer stars, however, our
task was to come up with the top 23 players and we are confident that the list we have come up with, is the cream of the crop, and deserve to be part of the Castle SuperStars team.

They definitely have the potential to be tomorrow’s Bafana,” explained Phil Masinga.
He added that comparatively, the standard of talent that had been seen through this year’s scouting process was significantly higher than last year and he was quite excited about their abilities.
During the next 14 days, the Castle SuperStars will continue with training and development activities that will include a significant amount of physical and technical training and coaching, as well as five friendly games with NFD and PSL teams.
This exposure will also give the youngsters the opportunity to be scouted by some of the country’s premier soccer teams.
“We are delighted with the way this process has progressed so far.
The talent we have seen this time around has been nothing short of outstanding and we are confident that they will go very far with their soccer careers.
We are excited that through the Together For Tomorrow’s Bafana process, some of these youngsters will potentially be taken up by First Division and PSL teams,” explained Alastair Hewitt, general manager, Castle Lager and Sports Sponsorships.
