Car dealer becomes part of club’s winning team

The Barberton Rugby Club (BRC) have received a boost this season thanks to a generous sponsorship by a well-known local car dealer.

Coach of the local club, Pieter de Bruyn will drive around in style after Barberton Ford & Mazda donated a vehicle to assist him with his work.
De Bruyn, who joined the BRC this season from Ermelo Rugby Club, will have a brand-new Ford Figo at his disposal.
The car, which is covered in the logos of both BRC and Barberton
Ford & Mazda, will assist the coach with transport to training sessions and
matches in the region.
Speaking at the official handover at the club house at Coronation Park last Thursday, dealer principal Jean Coetzee said their involvement with the club was an ongoing project which would facilitate the development of both brands. “It is important for companies like ours to work with teams like BRC.

Barberton Ford & Mazda’s staff and management have a great love for the game of rugby and we saw this as an opportunity to be a part of something close to our hearts. By providing the vehicle, we are able to help
the club in a substantial way,” he said.
De Bruyn said the car would make his tasks a lot easier and it would make the club identifiable. He thanked Barberton Ford & Mazda for “becoming part of the winning team”, which is the BRC slogan and promised they would deliver the goods this coming season.

“When people see the car, they will be as impressed as we are. This club has
aspirations and between us and such a prestigious brand, we can drive things forward.

We know what we have to do and it is crucial to have this kind of support from the local community and businesses.”
With BRC’s participation in the Lowveld Top League this season, the support offered by Barberton Ford will allow the club to build on the excellent work done both on and off the field last season and enable it to compete at the toughest level in club rugby, testing skills against the toughest opposition in the Lowveld.
Commenting on the announcement, Thinus Breedt, BRC chairman, said, “This is a very exciting year for the club with the Lowveld Top League coming and Barberton Ford joining us. And we are expecting a tough season this time around compared to the previous one where we easily won the league,” said Breedt.
This season all the tough teams, according to Breedt, will be competing together while those deemed weaker will compete against each other. The tougher teams to compete in the Top League include Barberton, Nelspruit, White River, Lydenburg and Malelane.

And the weaker ones in the Bottom League will be Belfast, Komatipoort, Hazyview, River Side and Orighstad.
BRC’s first game will be against Lydenburg at Coronation Park on April 5.
