Sivutsa Stars are fast gaining ground

The National First Division campaigners, Sivutsa Stars, registered back-to-back victories placing them in position nine on the log with 25 points.

Stars are now 11 points behind log leaders, Chippa United and need to win all their remaining fixtures to book a place in the national play-offs.
Last Wednesday the home team travelled to Durban and returned with all three points after defeating Blackburn Rovers 1-0.
And this past Sunday Stars registered yet another impressive victory against Capetonians, Vasco Da Gama.
This will go down as the most famous victory so far this year at home for Stars, after a dismal start following their 3-1 thrashing by Baroka on January 11.
“The boys showed character against one of the best teams in this division. They showed how hungry they were and how much they wanted to be promoted to the PSL at the end of the season.
“But even so, I still believe that there are some areas we need to work on just to bolster the team’s confidence.
“But overall, we are happy with the performance we have seen in the past two games and we hope there is more in store,” said Stars PRO, Charles Nkosi.
He sang the praises of their current coach, John Tlale, whom he said had managed to do wonders with the boys,”The arrival of Tlale was a blessing too, because he knows what he is doing and what he wants to achieve with the team. It’s great to have a leader with such vision,” said Nkosi.
Coming to the game itself, Stars could easily have won it by more than one goal, but lack of composure in front of goals let them down. They played good football but would at times fail to gel as a unit.

Mpho Mbebe’s goal was enough, to hand Stars all three points and they are
now eyeing another away victory when they take on struggling KZN outfits, Thanda Royal Zulu at the Umhlathuze Sport Complex on Sunday.
“We have brought in a few new players to boost the current squad and they have been working hard in training and look hungry for success. I am certain they will gain promotion to the elite league,” concluded Nkosi.
