As professional cyclists stream into the Lowveld this week, Trans African Concessions (TRAC) is concluding the final preparations for the TRAC 2014 Cycle Tour from Thursday, March 27 to Sunday March 30.

SCHOEMANSKLOOF – As professional cyclists stream into the Lowveld this week, Trans African Concessions (TRAC) is concluding the final preparations for the TRAC 2014 Cycle Tour from Thursday, March 27 to Sunday March 30.
TRAC’s maintenance teams have worked tirelessly to prepare the roads in and around Nelspruit to ensure that they are on par with the high-quality standards expected by the country’s top cyclists during this prestigious four-day competition.
This year’s tour will be comprise five categories namely u/16 boys, junior men, u/16 girls and junior women, u/23 men and elite women with each category riding a different route. All the routes were strategically mapped to ensure riders get the most out of the event while simultaneously showcasing the region’s renowned towns and attractions.
In order to ensure cyclists and members of the public remain safe throughout this tour, road closures will be effective as follows:
March 27: Schoemanskloof Road closed from 07:00 to 13:00 Stop/go’s at Montrose (N4) from 08:00 to 10:00.
March 30: Stop/go’s at Ngodwana (N4) from 09:00 to 11:00. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the road closures and to obey all corresponding road-safety regulations. TRAC also urge road users to remain conscious, patient and cautious in the presence of competing cyclists.
With this year’s TRAC Cycle Tour promising to be one of the most exciting yet, TRAC also calls on all Lowvelders to go out and support these young, talented men and women. Given the big names who entered this year’s event, competition will be stiff with each of the five stages sure to offer great spectator value.
