The Selati spirit increases annually and has reached a record number of entries this year. The TSB Selati 2-in-1 again started with the roar of a quarter-pound cannon.
This was the 26th run of this very special event, which grew from the initial 80 participants in 1989 to the record 876 this year. Added to this were 1 100 participants in the fun run.
“This means we had nearly 2 000 in total. This can be attributed to the intensive effort by the organisers and sponsors,” said organiser, Deon Valks. Watering points again contributed to the festive atmosphere, with divisions of TSB competing against one another.
Two trophies were up for grabs, and all the participants in the 21km race had the opportunity to vote for their favourite water point.
It was again awarded to the TSB Agricultural Division.
The second, judged and awarded by the CEO of the company, John du Plessis, was given to Quality Sugars, its marketing company. The start and finish were at the Malalane Rugby Club.
The finish water point was manned by Nashua Lowveld.
