Chiefs secure Mthembu signature

The Soweto giants had eyed the 27-year-old for some time now as Chiefs were keen to add extra reinforcements to their striking department.

Platinum Stars striker Siphelele ‘Shaka Zulu’ Mthembu has signed for Kaizer Chiefs, according to a report by Soccer Laduma.

The Soweto giants had eyed the 27-year-old for some time now as Chiefs were keen to add extra reinforcements to their striking department.

Laduma’s report suggests Mthembu has put pen-to-paper in a three-year deal with the Amakhosi and that the deal will only be made public once his contract expires at the end of June.

Mthembu had also been linked with Mamelodi Sundowns and a move to Europe, however, Chiefs have secured the target on their wish list and he will be turning out for coach Stuart Baxter’s side in the 2014/15 Absa Premiership season.

The Naturena outfit has also recently concluded the signing of Moroka Swallows defender Levy Mokgothu last week.

Mthembu had previously been on the books of Orlando Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtic as well as Golden Arrows.
