Misconduct puts Aces’ star in danger

Mpumalanga Black Aces' defender Mbulelo Mabizela's soccer career may be over.

This is after reports of his suspension, over alleged misconduct in the team became rife over the weekend.

Mpumalanga News tried in vain to source comment from the team to confirm whether these reports were true or not.

Mabizela has been missing in action for quite some time now and without any explanations from the team.

To be precise, he last played when his team took on Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN 8 in the beginning of the season and hasn’t been seen since.

Sourced information from the Aces camp is that Mabizela has had disturbing confrontations with his coach Clive Barker and his teammates.
This has then prompted Aces’ owners to suspend this troubled but equally talented defender for ill-discipline.

Mabizela is said to have once accused Barker of fielding players out of position and questioning why he had not been fielded in recent games.

He is also said to have clashed with his teammates on a number of occasions.

Nicknamed “Old John” as a young player for showing maturity beyond his years, Mabizela holds the record as the youngest player to captain the South African national team at the age of 20.

While he has all the ability required to be an outstanding player with good pace, strength, composure on the ball with both feet and the timing of tackles, Mabizela has had a career marred by confrontation.

He was released by Tottenham Hotspur after only 14 months with the club for disciplinary problems in 2004, this followed him having been stripped of the Bafana Bafana captaincy for going awol a few months earlier.

Other troubles have included a six-month ban for the use of a banned substance in 2006 and a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol in December 2008.
