Pressure and intent secure the victory
The Noordvaal medium schools league is well underway and this week Penryn College played against Hoërskool Sybrand van Niekerk in Sabie.
All the matches were played in good spirit by both sides and this resulted in some good running rugby by the visitors.
In the first XV match, the larger forward pack overpowered the smaller Sybrand side and this led to several turnovers in the scrums and line-outs. The visitors’ backline thrived on the front-foot ball and they had all the momentum. The continued pressure was eventually too much for Sybrand and the victory went to Penryn. It was a great team effort, but the performances of the lock, Albert Hechter, prop, Nic Wybrow and scrum half, Wakhe Shongwe must be noted.
