Young players get introduction to cricket at Curro

The school recently hosted the second of three festivals for u/7 to u/9 players.

It is a noisy business when 180 young cricket players take one another on with bat and ball, and it was no exception when Curro Nelspruit hosted 22 teams during a minicricket festival recently.

Teams of Riverview Prep, Penryn Prep, St Peter’s, Curro, Nelspruit Primary, Uplands Prep and Little Cubs participated. According to Curro’s Ryan McCarthy it was the second of a total of three minicricket festivals planned.

“All the grade ones played on our astro which was a nice surprise for the little boys and girls,” McCarthy said.

Since the aim is to develop young players, no scores were kept in the games between the learners from grades one to three.

“From Curro’s side we would like to thank all the visiting schools and staff that offered up their Friday afternoon for the development of cricket. We look forward to hosting this event next year again.”
