Ehlanzeni athletes honoured at sport awards
Teams, players and coaches were the toast of the town at the recent Ehlanzeni Sports Awards.
Wesley Gibson and Thembisile Mdluli were the toast of Mbombela when they walked away with the sportsman and sportswoman of the year awards at the Ehlanzeni Sports Awards on Friday, November 6.
Gibson, a 20-year-old boxer of Thaba Chweu, had a memorable year in which he won the light heavyweight provincial championship and silver at the boxing elite championships.
Mdluli had a stellar debut season as captain of the Mpumalanga Sunbirds in the Brutal Fruit Netball Premier Division. Mdluli, who plays goal defence, played a key role in propelling the Sunbirds to a fourth place on the log.

The two athletes will now compete for the coveted Mpumalanga sportsman and sportswoman of the year awards in Middelburg on December 5.
