It has been an excellent term of cricket for Uplands College first XI. They played eight games of which they won six, drew one and lost one.
This secured them 11th place on the national rankings at the end of the season. This was a great achievement for the school, as seven out of the eight fixtures were played against schools from other provinces.
“This shows that the Lowveld and Mpumalanga have the talent and the depth to compete against the best from outside the province, when we channel our energies in the right direction and give our players the opportunity to play at the highest possible level,” said coach Mike Reed.
Uplands College previously featured in the top 10.
“We continuously and tirelessly work towards matching this and even bettering it each season. I have been very lucky this season to have a talented and committed group of players who have really gelled as a team,” said Reed.
“When I look back over the past eight weeks, I can honestly say that each member of our team has contributed to our success.” Our fielding was a big focus for us this term and the hard work paid off and played an integral part of our success, but we are not forgetting about our top-five batsmen averaging over 40 each and our bowlers regularly bowling sides out,” Reed concluded.
