Lanies victorious on the sportsfield

The hard practices of Laerskool Malelane's netball and rugby players paid off when they won their respective matches this past weekend.

On Saturday the u/13A team participated in the Fast Five Netball Tournament at Uplands.

The coaches, Mandi van Heerden and Steffie Marais, joined the team in White River.

Fast Five is a new version of netball where the wing attack and wing defence are not part of the team, so the team consists of only five players.

The Lanie-Girls grabbed at the opportunity to keep the name of Laerskool Malelane high.

They played matches against Riverview Prep, St Peter’s, Uplands Prep, Curro and Penryn Prep, and won all five.

The grade A, ones and twos participated in a Pumaki Rugby tournament in Lydenburg on the same day.

The grade As played three matches and the other two teams played four matches each.

Because Pumaki Rugby is about exposure to the sport and not winning, no scores were kept but supporters know the Lanie Pumakies won all their matches.
