The masters battle for top honours
The bowlers were divided into two sections with six players in each.

The Lowveld’s winter sun set the stage for a warm but pleasant Lowveld Open ladies invitational masters tournament for 12 open Lowveld participants on June 4 and 5. The exciting tournament was hosted by LVCC Bowling Club.
The open Lowveld participants that were invited were Gwyn Korf (White river), Martie J van Vuuren (Barberton), Jeanette Richards (Nelspruit), Christie Cross (Bungalows), Annemarie van der Ham (Barberton), Marina Smith (Nelspruit), Rhona Pienaar (Nelspruit), Susan de Vries (LVCC), Marlet Ireland (Bungalows), Marie Saayman (Barberton), Miranda Paiva (White River) and Madeleine de Klerk (Nelspruit).
The bowlers were divided into two sections with six players in each. They played singles and the first to reach 21 points were declared the winners. Some ends were played over 21 ends, and some participants battled more than others on the greens. Each player played five games.
In section one the winner was Martie J van Vuuren with eight points and a shot aggregate of 40, with runner-up Jeanette Richards with eight points and a shot aggregate of 35. Marlet Ireland of Bungalows Bowling club was section two’s winner with eight points and a shot aggregate of 32. Miranda Paiva was the runner-up with eight points and a shot aggregate of 29.
Martie J van Vuuren, Marlet Ireland, Miranda Paiva and Jeanette Richards played in the finals of the Mpumalanga ladies.
Winner: Martie J van Vuuren
Runner-up: Marlet Ireland
Third place: Miranda Paiva
Fourth place: Jeanette Richards.
