Lowveld Open Ladies ruled the bowling green with four wins at the Mpumalanga Masters hosted by Middelburg Country Club this weekend.
Eight Lowveld women, Marlet Ireland (Bungalows Hazyview), Miranda Paiva (White River), Marina Smith (Malelane), Martie Janse van Vuuren (Barberton), Marie Saayman (Barberton), Anne-Marie van der Ham (Barberton), Jeanette Richards (Nelspruit) and Madelein de Klerk were chosen to play in this exciting tournament against Central and Highveld.

The bowlers were divided into four sections, playing four games in total. For each game won, a player received two points and a shot aggregate. The teams fought it out, but only one winner from a section could go to the semi-finals and finals.

Section winners
• Section 1: Martie Janse van Vuuren with six points and a shot aggregate of 35
• Section 2: Marie Saayman with eight and an aggregate of 43
• Section 3: Jeanette Richards with eight and an aggregate of 28
• Section 4: Marlet Ireland with eight and an aggregate of 58.

In the semi-finals Janse van Vuuren had to face Richards and Saayman had to face Ireland.
In the finals it was Ireland who had to play against Janse van Vuuren for first and second place and Saayman against Richards for third and fourth place.

The greens were smooth but tricky with a wind that pushed the bowls all over the greens, but in the end Janse van Vuuren beat Ireland and Richards beat Saayman.
