Barberton MTB Challenge turns 21

With a festival-like atmosphere, there is much for the fans and supporters to do while waiting for the cyclists to return from their thrilling adventure ride.

Next year will see the Barberton XCM MTB Challenge’s coming of age. The event, which was launched by the Barberton Rotary club 21 years ago, has increased in popularity over the years and will take place on January 28, 2017.

Pre-entries are open and you can enter at www.cycleevents.co.za or www.barbertonxcm.co.za.

The Barberton XCM route is one of the toughest in the country.

The ultra-marathon cyclists will peak their 110-kilometre route at just under 1 800 metres above sea level, while the 20-kilometre fun-ride cyclists will reach an altitude of just under 700 metres.

All races will start and end at the Barberton High School sports field.
