Players crowned club champions

Facing a thick, rough and slow green, 60 players competed for the top spot at WRCC this year with both the men's and women's A-division titles strongly contested.

This weekend saw both White River Country Club (WRCC) and Mbombela Golf Club members take to the greens for their annual club championships.

Playing a consistent game on both Saturday and Sunday, DJ Hasselbring took the title of men’s club champion.

Penny Robinson, competing against 18 other women, managed a convincing win over the two days and was crowned club champion of the year.

According to Dalton Viviers, sport and marketing manager at WRCC, the two-day event saw members facing a challenging course despite the relatively windless conditions.

Enjoying the pristine condition of the Mbombela Golf Course, well-known Lowveld golfer, Anton Steenkamp managed to secure a win in the men’s A-division with Meghan Brisley claiming the women’s club champion position.
