Cricket siblings own the wicket
They might still be teenagers, but Faheem and Razeena Nomani are both making a name for themselves in cricket spheres.
Captain of Hoërskool Bergvlam’s first cricket team, 18-year-old Faheem has scored 710 this season – the most runs scored by a first team cricketer at Vlammies in a season.
For the second consecutive year, Faheem will travel with the provincial cricket team for the u/19 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week from December 16 to 20 in Cape Town.
Younger sister Razeena (14) is not just a budding cricketer, as one of only three grade eight pupils who plays for Bergvlam’s first girls team, but she has also torn up the hockey field since she was merely 10 years old.

Their older sister Raeesa (20) plays Varsity Cup cricket for NMMU. Faheem will join her in Port Elizabeth next year.
“Growing up, I have always been a big fan of the Warriors. They are a great team and it will be a huge privileged to be able to play for them in the near future.”
Early in 2018, he was invited by the Titans Academy to bowl during practice sessions for the Proteas and the Indian national team when the two sides met at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
“I was bowled over! It was a fantastic experience. Tips and advice from the national players were most valuable.”
Although Razeena only started practicing the sport competitively this year, she says she enjoys the game and the sport is in her blood. “I never missed a mini-cricket festival. I was probably the only girl among the boys, but it never bothered me. As a family we still play cricket in the backyard and it brings us closer to each other as a family.”
Both players said they have dreams to take their sporting careers all the way to the top.
