NTC are on their way to the nationals
Nelspruit Tennis Club (NTC) are the top guns of Mpumalanga senior tennis after their wins in the A and B sections of the second annual Tennis South Africa Growthpoint Top Guns Tournament over the weekend.

Along with the titles, the teams won a combined R10 000 for the club and enhanced its reputation as the number-one club in the province.
Nelspruit’s winning A section team consisted of local coaches Eckhardt van der Linde and Susan van der Linde and married couple Jeanetha and Pieter Boshoff.
The ladies remained undefeated on their way to the title, while the men only lost one doubles match. In the final, the team defeated Middelburg Country Club convincingly winning the ladies doubles 4-2, 4-0 and the men winning 4-0, 4-1 with Eckhardt serving an ace on match point to clinch the title.
The team will now represent Mpumalanga in the national competition taking place in early 2019 where winning teams from each province will compete against each other.
In the B section both finalists were also from Mbombela with the team of Elzette Theron, Marie van der Merwe, Teddy Ndlazi and Wiseman Nkambule emerging victorious. They had a hard-fought match in the final against the Terminetters which extended into the night under lights.
The tournament also featured Laerskool Nelspruit’s rising star Arili Boshoff, who alongside Zander du Preez, defeated Middleburg Country Club’s provincial player Lydia Wilsenach and Charl Basson in a thrilling three-set mixed doubles group match.
