Parents outplay Penryn staff at the 20/20 wicket

The Penryn staff won the toss and elected to field first in this third annual 20/20 match between Penryn staff and Penryn parents.

The dads amassed 186 for seven in their 20 overs, with Keith Erasmus, Mark Osborne and Dave Moffett all retiring after scoring 30 runs.

The pick of the staff bowling attack was Xolani Grootboom. The staff went into bat needing an excess of nine runs per over.

They got off to a good start with both opening batsmen, Grootboom and Manaheng Sililo, retiring at 30 each, but their onslaught began to fade when the big fish Gunther Swart was dismissed by one of the old men of the team, Eric Grimaldi.

The run chase faded towards the end of the staff innings, with them only managing to score 159 runs off their allotted 20 overs, with Grimaldi and Osborne being the pick of the bowlers.
