Mothosola is the new title holder of KMI Airport Trail Run

Runners from all over the Lowveld converged on Mbombela's international airport to "earn their wings" on Saturday.

Mohlalepula Mothosola is the new title holder of the KMI Airport Trail Run, organised by the Nelspruit Marathon Club.

Runners from all over the Lowveld converged on Mbombela’s international airport to “earn their wings” on Saturday.

Participants finished five-, 10- and 21-kilometre to receive “pilot wings” at the finish line.

Mothosola won with a time of one hour, 26 minutes and five seconds, followed by Sifiso Shange with a time of one hour,30 minutes and 19 seconds.

Angeline Molaba took first place in 21 kilometres for women (1:54:44). Eldoret Boezaart came in after her with a time of two hours, four minutes and 32 seconds.

In the 40-year-old category, Vusumusi Chiloane bagged first place (2:01:00), with July Mashego close on his heels with 2:03:23. Under the female runners here, Medeleine Whitehair was in the lead (2:07:16) and Sibongile Mlombo followed (2:17:26).

Alex Mgiba took first place in the 50-years male category and Kate Hulett was in the lead in the female category. Samuel Mathebula took the top spot in the 10kilometre category and he completing the race in 41 minutes and 40 seconds.

He outran his competitor in a minute; Emmanuel Kekana settled with second place with a time of 42 minutes and
40 seconds.

Chantel Middel-Bowee came first in the female category, boasting a time of one hour, three minutes and 17 seconds, Rochelle Berry took second place.

In the 40-year-old male category Ronny Mabotja took first place and Middel-Bowee also took first place in this category. Bonga Shongwe won the five-kilometre category and Kirsten Berry was his female counterpart.
