Sports teams to clash in Mayoral Cup finals this weekend
KaMhlushwa Stadium is expected to be packed on Saturday as sporting codes ranging from boxing to football clash for the final time in the Mayoral Sports Development Cup.

Sports fans will be treated to matches from several sporting codes at KaMhlushwa Stadium on Saturday as the finalists in the Mayoral Cup vie for their category’s trophy.
The gates are opening at 08:00 and the programme will be packed.
Nkomazi Boxing’s finalists Langeloop All Strong and Two Man’s Boxing Club will be showing off their skills, and a football team from Ligwalagwala FM will face the Nkomazi Legends in a friendly match.
The u/19 basketball teams of Nkomazi Heat and Block A Wildcats and Seniors Nkomazi Heat and Ntunda Lakers are eager to do battle for the trophy.

Spectators will be able to marvel at the skills of the wheelchair basketball teams as Nkomazi East faces West.
Volleyball teams Mbangwane will face Tigers in the u/19 match while Shinyokane takes on Mbangwane Primary in the u/15 category.
Under 13 boys is Matsamo Primary vs Luvolwethu Primary, under 16 boys is Sidlamafa vs Horizon, under 16 girls is Mntimandze vs Lovunywa and open category is Black Cats vs Langeloop All Strong.
In the netball categories, the u/13’s Ingwenyama and Masibonisane will clash, with Professor and Hhoyi already in third and fourth place.
Idlangemabala will face Masibonisane in the u/15 category. Mehlobovu and Mjokwane have already taken position
3 and 4.
The u/19 category will feature VIP vs Club Genesis, Benini Girls vs Sidlamafa will represent the open category and the deaf teams from Silindokuhle and Bukhosibetfu are expected to put on a good show.

The tournament also aims to cultivate rugby talent. The u/13s of Matsamo Primary and Luvolwethu Primary are fighting for the top spot, while the u/16 final will feature Sidlamafa vs Horizon. The u/16 girls of Mntimandze will battle Lovunywa and in the open category Black Cats will clash with Langeloop All Strong.

The football is expected to be the day’s greatest draw. Many of the top teams will participate in the Selati Cup, which will kick off from March 21.

All finalists received kits to further develop their teams, but a prize-giving ceremony is set to take place after the last matches. Teams stand a chance to win trophies and cash prizes to help boost and promote their school, club or sport.
Many of the football teams will also be participating in the annual Selati Cup. It kicks off on March 21, with 128 teams, as well as school and women’s teams.
