White River Primary hosted the tournament that took place from early Saturday morning to late afternoon.

The sixteen schools and clubs were divided into four different pools and play-offs ensured that all teams had the opportunity to play more than once.

In sevens rugby there are three forwards, three backs, and a scrum half. This makes the game much shorter and faster than the 15-player game.

Laerskool Nelspruit’s u/11 team kicked the tournament off in great style by defeating Kragbron with a resounding 27-0. During their second game they managed to beat Nelspruit Youth Rugby with 17-10. The youngsters continued their winning streak with a victory of 27-19 over Goedehoop, and then lost to Noordskool with a score of 14-22.

This was good enough to secure the elated players fourth place overall in their age group.
In the same age group Lydenburg Primary showed grit and determination by beating White River Primary 14-5 on the first day. They managed to beat Numbi but then lost to Noordskool.

A few good games later put them in sixth place overall, after just losing to Goedehoop in the Plate Final.
In the u/12 category host school White River held its own to beat Tzaneen with 15-14 in a tense game, making them good enough for a coveted third place.

In the same age group Lydenburg fought it out with Arbor Park in the Plate Final and after a convincing win of 16-13, finished in fifth overall position.

Nelspruit Primary had a good tournament and after losing to Nellies 17-29 on the first day, made a great comeback to defeat them with 22-0 to claim overall position of seventh place with Nellies in the eighth position.
