Three of Penryn’s pupils; Marcus de Carvalho, Mwedi Tique and Marvin Monjane; have been selected to play for the national teams in Mozambique.
All three of these players are part of the Sporting Portugal Club – Mpumalanga’s only international soccer academy. It offers weekly training for young soccer enthusiasts, as well as various national and international touring opportunities.
Both Marcus and Mwedi were selected for the u/20 Mozambican squad. Marvin was selected for the u/17 squad and has played for them in the Cosafa Cup.
Mwedi Tique (grade 10) started playing soccer when he was six years old. “My biggest soccer achievement thus far has been to be selected in the Mozambique national u/20 team. I want to play professionally in a well-established club, and I want to play a major trophy for my country,” he said.
