Potts retain trophy against LVCC
The 109th game between the Potts XI and LVCC took place last weekend and, as is the norm, it was a festive event.

The LVCC side managed to retain the golf trophy last Friday, but the real spoils were up for grabs in the cricket match on Saturday.
Potts won the toss and elected to bat first. They soon found themselves in trouble at 25/3, but Shane Murphy and Sean Cresswell put on a fine partnership to resurrect the innings.
Cresswell was eventually dismissed for 39 and a batting collapse ensued, leaving Murphy stranded for a very well-played 79 not out and the Potts side with 168 all out.
Roelof Jansen spearheaded the LVCC attack and finished with four wickets under his belt. But LVCC quickly found themselves in trouble at 2/2 through a fiery spell from Kayde Ball.

Their middle-order contribution, built around Dwayne Obermeyer’s 46, ensured that LVCC only fell short by 12 runs in the first innings at 156 all out.
Ball was brought back to clean up the tail and ended with final figures of 5/32.
The game was set up to be a closely contested one, but rain ultimately had the final say and play was called off on Sunday morning with the Potts XI on 43/2.

Ball and Murphy shared the man of the match accolade. Cresswell recieved an LVCC tie for playing his 10th Potts match.
Next year promises to be an exciting event as it will be the 110th cricket match between the two sides.
