Lowvelders pedal their way to SA National Road Cycling Championships

Starting today, she and 24 others will represent Mpumalanga in Swellendam over three days.

Danette Shaw is among 25 locals who will soon represent the province at the pinnacle of South African road cycling events, the National Road Championship.

This follows her win in the elite category of the Mpumalanga Road Cycling Championship held at eManzana (Badplaas) on Saturday and Sunday.

The 85-kilometre elite race saw Jacques Burger finish first with a time of 02:37:52, more than 10 minutes ahead of the runner-up Hans Greyling, but this was not enough to qualify for nationals. Shaw won the elite women’s race within the qualifying time, 02:40:57.

Starting today, she and 24 others will represent Mpumalanga in Swellendam over three days.
