Blake Schraader was caught behind by Hanu Viljoen off the blowing of Thompson.

Captain Yassar Cook anchored the innings to 306 for six before he was caught by Kelly Smuts off the bowling of Terblanche.

Rain put an end to Friday’s play with Jason Oaks and Ernest Kemm at the crease.

On Saturday it was all Northern Cape Heat as they flayed the Rhinos’ bowling attack.

Rivaldo Moonsamy was the chief aggressor with 154 runs. His innings included a 202-ball, 199 partnership with Thompson.

Thompson was on 90 when he lost his wicket, caught Rubin Hermann, bowled Kieron Kenny.

Schraader eventually claimed Moonsamy’s wicket, caught Kenny.

The Heat were on a very comfortable 518 for six at stumps on Saturday November 5.

Sunday, the final day of play, was a disaster for the Rhinos.

The Heat declared on 620 for eight.

The Rhinos had to occupy the crease, but it was not to be. They collapsed.

The scoreboard read 8/1, 9/2, 10/3, 18/4, 36/5, 47/6, 47/7, 50/8, 82/2 and 82 all out.

It was a shocking batting performance with Kenny top scoring with 18.

Only Kenny, Mohammed Mayet, Hinrichsen and the extras got to double figures.
Thompson took four for 11 in nine overs.

Despite the heavy defeat, the Rhinos moved to fourth place on the log with 11.68 points.
