Ashley Erasmus wins gold in African Games
The 2023 Hoërskool Nelspruit matriculant is the best women's shot putter in Africa after winning in Accra, Ghana, tonight.
Lowvelder Ashley Erasmus won the gold medal in the women’s shot put at the African Games in Accra, Ghana, tonight, Friday March 22.
Erasmus, who matriculated at Hoërskool Nelspruit in 2023, took first place with a put of 16.98m.
The silver medal went to Olatoye Oyesade of Nigeria with a distance of 16.61m.

Ischke Senekel, Erasmus’s South African teammate, took bronze with 16.38m.

On Thursday March 21, Erasmus took seventh place in the women’s discus at the African Games with a throw of 51.85m.
Erasmus won gold in the 2023 African U20 Athletics Championship in the shot put and discus.
