Six schools took part in the athletics meeting at Laerskool Laeveld.

Laerskool Laeveld’s athletes were victorious at the prestige athletics meeting the school hosted, overcoming challengers from five other schools to take the top prize.

The school was visited by Laerskool Taalfees, Laerskool Bergland, Laerskool Delmas, White River Primary and Nelspruit Primary.

It turned out to be a day filled with some of the best primary school athletics action one could hope for, as the athletes gave their all in pursuit of top prizes, on the track and the field throughout the day, jumping to new heights, running at new speeds and throwing further than they had before.

As much as the athletes were on fire, the weather was blazing hot, too, and the conditions added to the exhilarating action. The hosts dominated the meeting, though, their athletes putting the home-ground advantage to real good use. Laerskool Laeveld claimed a total of 83 medals, 24 of which were gold. They also received 31 silver and 28 bronze medals.

Laerskool Bergland had the second-most medals at 52 – 21 gold, 13 silver and 18 bronze. White River Primary was third with a total of 51 – 18 gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze. Nelspruit Primary was fourth with 48, Laerskool Taalfees fifth with 47 and Laerskool Delmas sixth with 21 medals.
