The Pumas scored a total of 16 tries in the game against Uganda.

Continuing their preparation for the 2025 Airlink Currie Cup, the Airlink Pumas took on the Ugandan national team at Nelspruit Rugby Club on June 27.

The Pumas’ preseason started in Namibia the week prior, securing a 59-19 win over the Welwitschias in Windhoek, in what was the first of their two international pre-Currie Cup friendlies. The second of which was the game against Uganda in Mbombela on June 27, which presented the Pumas with a chance to gift some fringe players game time and stake their claim for Currie Cup selection.

Uganda opted to do the same as the game against the Pumas was their fourth and final friendly match while on tour in Southern Africa before they headed home. With both sides made up of players eager to make their mark, the game turned out to be an exciting encounter that treated the few hundred spectators in attendance at the game.

The Pumas ultimately ran riot, scoring seven tries in the first half to lead 43-0 at the break, before adding a further nine tries in the second half to round out a 102-0 victory.

Uganda now turn their focus to the Rugby Africa Cup from July 8 to 19 while the Airlink Pumas continue their Currie Cup prep with a friendly against the Northam Wolves at Nelspruit Rugby Club on July 5.
