Prepared to be wowed by local’s transformation

A local lad lost a whopping 75 kilograms to take silver at the World Beauty Fitness and Fashion (WBFF) championships, which were held in Las Vegas recently.

Just eight months ago, Sean Botha (22) tipped the scales at 160 kilograms. After months of training and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, he lost over 70 kilograms.

It was not until one morning which prompted his weight-loss journey.

This photo of Sean Botha was taken more or less eight months ago.

He showed off his incredible weight loss transformation in new before and after photos. The 22-year-old booked his ticket to the United States after he qualified for worlds in the transformation category at the South African Championships in June.

“I have been a member at Virgin Active since I can remember.”

“The photo, which they still have on their system, is of me as a little boy. I trained during my high school days, but my weight never seemed to bother me until one morning. I wanted to lose weight, desperately. The days you don’t feel like putting in the work, because either you’re not seeing results or you’re just feeling lazy, those are the days those pics come in handy to motivate and prove to yourself what you are doing.”

He dropped five sizes and admitted that it was not easy trying to find XXXL size clothing. Now, he feels amazing walking into any store and choosing clothes that fit right and loving what he sees in the mirror.

“It is rewarding when people come up to me and tell me, ‘Wow, you look great, you are an inspiration’. It motivates me to keep it up. I will never go back to the ‘junk food’ lifestyle. Never!”

In the near future, Botha wants to make his way back to the stage, but this time most definitely not as a transformation athlete.
