Young cricket player’s star is on the rise

Kyle has really come into his own as a cricket player and captain.

Kyle Klesse (17) is a grade 11 pupil at Uplands who is making his presence felt on the cricket field. Kyle started playing the game in grade one and has honed and perfected his cricketing skills since starting off with mini-cricket.

When he reached grade three, the transition to hard ball cricket proved to be a smooth one. Since playing his first cricket match in grade four, Kyle has been delivering stellar performances on the field of play and he has represented Mpumalanga at u/12, u/13B, u/15A and u/17A level.

He has been selected to represent the province in the u/19 team during the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week. The school’s head of communications, Sandile Maluleke, described Kyle as a star on the rise who eats, sleeps and breathes cricket.”

In this last year in particular, Kyle has really come into his own as a cricket player and captain. He has the ability to read the game situation well, understands his own personal role and is able to adapt where necessary.

He is currently the captain of the Uplands College 1st XI. Last Saturday, his prowess in the game was showcased again when he played for White River Cricket Club and scored 223 runs off 115 balls. With his cricketing stars aligned and on the rise, the name Kyle Klesse will be on everyone’s lips in cricketing circles.
