Lydenburg athletes excel at SA’s and bring home gold

Ntiyiso Nkanyanis’s determination and hard work paid off.
He kept up a gruelling exercise routine throughout the 2023 athletic season and achieved stellar results.
He won the boys’ U19 400m hurdles in a time of 0:51.80.

Rina van Heerden, his coach, has been coaching Ntiyiso since he was in primary school with the assistance of both Laerskool and Hoërskool Lydenburg.
Michael van der Merwe (headmaster), and coaches Marius van Zyl and Gordan Hollamby are just as proud of the athletes.
Tsegofatso Mmotong leapt a distance of 13.05m in the boys’ U19 triple jump and finished in ninth place.
Olwethu Baiysa finished 14th in the girls U17 triple jump with a distance 10.09 m. She won third place in the girls’ U17 400m relay.
Reenetse Mkhabela finished 12th with a distance of 10.22m in the girls U17 triple jump.
Tshepi Mokwena finished seventh in the girls U17 triple jump event with a distance of 10.50m. She also finished in 11th place in the girls U15 long jump with 4.73m
Liané van Zyl finished eighth in the girls U15 triple jump with a distance of 10.19m.
