Nelspruit skates for hope

More than 30 skaters from Nelspruit recently participated in the Skate for Hope tour held at Riverside Mall.

Sun, sweat and a couple of wipe-outs didn’t put the skateboarders off from displaying their skills at Skateboarding for Hope this past Saturday at Riverside Mall.

This initiative aims to bring this sport the all communities and to identify emerging talent. Sponsored by Anglo America’s Kumba Iorn ore, and organised by Boogaloos, the event included a clinic, demos and best tricks competition.

Twenty five lucky local skaters received a skateboard from Maloof.

According to Gareth Green from Nelspruit G-Sk8t, it is an affordable and accessible sport for youngsters. The Nelspruit crew consists of between 20 and 30 members, from 13 years of age and up.
