St Thomas show their mettle at interhouse

St Thomas college learners shifted their focus from their academic studies when they engaged in various sporting codes

BURGERSFORT- St Thomas college learners shifted their focus from their academic studies when they engaged in various sporting codes. This was part of their interhouse athletics competition.

The sporting extravaganza was organised at the school sports grounds on February 27 and 28. Learners were divided in four teams namely the Impalas, Rhinos, Cheetahs and the Lions.

They competed against each other in long-distance running, relays, long jump, high jump, discuss and shot put.

The Impalas were the best team of the day followed by the Rhinos and Lions. The Cheetahs had to settle for last place. Philip Mushaikwa, sports coordinator at St Thomas College told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that the sporting event was a success and the school was proud of the talent shown by the learners.

“I cant wait for our next year athletics,” he concluded.
