Girl’s rugby shows great potential
A number of Lowveld High's girl rugby players participated in the South African Rugby Union Girls u/18 North Sevens Interprovincial Competition which was concluded on Saturday.

Since 2010 when rugby for girls started, Lowveld High has had 13 players who have played for various provincial teams.
The u/18s had an outstanding tournament as they tasted victory against the Griffons, 12-10. Their match against the Golden Lions ended in a 19-19 draw. Joy Ndlovu captained the u/18 team and Nokwanda Motha was the vice-captain for the u/16 15-a-side team.
Gugu Nkambule (u/16) captained the team during the last game of the week and she was also on the shortlist for backline player of the tournament. Portia Nzima, also u/16 was on the shortlist for forward player of the tournament.
“The girls make it so easy for us by the spirit they bring to the team and the guts they show on the field. It shows that this school has potential to produce more players,” said the rugby organiser, Aggrey Mokoena.
